Sierra Leone Flooding

The Amen Foundation office was contacted early this morning with sad reports and photos about loss of hundreds of human lives due to natural disasters around Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Monday, August 14, 2017:

Heavy rains and unsteady terrains have led to flooding and mudslides that have buried so many homes in heavily crowded residential areas of the region. International media like the BBC and regional media in Sierra Leone have already confirmed that this disaster is a whole lot bigger than earlier thought. Calls are going out for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief. This organization has been present on the ground in the country of Sierra Leone for many years, and is immediately implementing a quick action and response to help the survivors of this disaster in and around Freetown.

A response team is already in place here in Washington, working with other volunteers. We are taking donations of canned foods, dry foods, nutritional supplements and foods, blankets, clothing, over-the-counter medications and vitamin supplements. Emphasis is on food and nutritional supplies. A large quantity of emergency medical supplies is already in place for shipment. Together with our sister-organization, Action Africa Inc., we plan to ship a 40-foot container of these supplies in two weeks - yes, two weeks. These supplies will be destined to assist victims and needy families in and around Freetown, Sierra Leone.

We request donations to help cover container shipping costs. We call on Churches, individuals, organizations, associations, corporations, agencies, etc to partner with us in order to accomplish this one miracle for the people of Sierra Leone.

Donations are tax-deductible.
